The Landrover Defender is a true British icon, able to trace it's lineage right back to 1948 and the origin of the Series models; conceived as a British alternative to the American Jeep (indeed taking a fair bit of inspiration from it's battle hardened Yank competitor) but now acknowledged as one of the first mass produced go anywhere vehicles and spawning countless imitators throughout the world. If ever there was a car that was suitable for a BL Challenge this is it - one of the few cars that not only outlived the BL era but also outlasted the eventual MG Rover successor (if one discounts the current SAIC version of the same company)

This particular car is the pride and joy of Edward Pook who joined the BL Challenge fraternity in the summer of 2011 for the Landy in the Loire challenge. It behaved brilliantly during the week away and has the honour of being the only car that needed no maintenance at all during a Challenge!

Ed has made a few changes to the car since the Challenge including even bigger wheels and it can now be seen residing near Mont Blanc in Chamonix, where Ed has returned for the new ski season.
